Since I am a child I have been dealing with cavities and I hated to have them removed. The sound of the machine, the feeling of your teeth being holed up made me feel anxious to say the least. All of this because most of my childhood was full of non healthy foods and also, I remember eating a lot of candy.
All of this created the perfect bomb for me to be a cavity factory.
A couple years ago (I was 30-31yo) I had to get a molar removed because of a bad job a rookie dentist made. He did not removed the cavity completely and filled it. Then, they wanted me to get a root canal (this is no joke) but, I did my research and talked to recommended oral surgeons and naturopaths and found out it was better to remove and get an implant in the future. I also found out oral hygiene can have an impact in your overall health including cardiovascular, blood, and nervous system.
Oral infections are no joke.
Youtube Channels I Recommend:
I know that we don't earn degrees by watching youtube, but if you take time to find valuable resources maybe you will. But, remember you take what helps and discard what wont. Nobody has the absolute truth when it comes to how bodies function or will react. The only way to know what works for you is starting to make changes and staying with the things that worked out for you.
Here are some channels I have been following:
Also, if you can find a reliable natural store I will encourage you to establish a relationship with the owners. They know so much about herbs, teas, and products and most of my experiences they start with the little less expensive and later they show you the rest. You will learn so much from them specially the elders. Not all of them want your money, most of them really love to help.
I also read papers but only when I need to look further and very specific information. Sometimes one thing leads to another and you end up finding shocking information that otherwise you will never had known.
Don't believe just for the sake of believing, try, experiment and take your research further.
Nobody tell you this at school. They just tell you to have your Colgate products and to visit your dentist regularly since first grade. Since this happened I took responsibility for my health and have been researching methods to avoid heavy procedures at a dentist office.
My Routine
1. I start my oral routine with mouthwash, take a shower and spit it out. This helps to effectively remove overnight buildup (around tongue, gums, and teeth) that cause bad breath.
2. I clean my brush before every use: I found that your brush holds to bacteria in every use and using a little amount of mouthwash is enough to kill bacteria.
Since I started with this routine my bad breath in the mornings is almost non-existent. I knew there was something wrong with waking up with such bad breath. I mean, to a certain extent. Like that Crest commercial of the lady trying to kiss her husband after brushing and the husband was running for his life. Around 2022 I introduced the tongue cleaner and I noticed a significant improvement but it was not till I controlled my sugar consumption that bad breath started to go away. In my case, sugar was causing it.
3. I brush with anti-cavity paste in the night and non-fluoride in the day (like Tom's for example or any other natural brand).
4. Rinse with water, then with Listerine, follow with Closys and ending with ACT. Next morning: almost no signs of bad breath
5. I change my brush monthly or every 2-3 depending on the bristles or if I feel I have to change it. It varies.
6. Oil pulling: I use coconut oil but use the one you have available. I have read about people using olive and vegetable oil. This will help to take care of your gums, mineralization of teeth, and will remove bad breath germs. Every time I do this I feel like a deep cleaning just took place. It is amazing.
Since doing this, my tongue is the prettiest rosie color. I immediately notice the white coat when eating sugar and run to the bathroom and clean with tongue tool. No gum or mint needed but I always will use any gum containing xylitol just in case. There are natural xylitol gums available but they are way too expensive and honestly I rather save to buy main hygiene products for the upcoming months.
No bad breath at all like it should be. I wish I would have known all of this since my teenage years because this is a game changer. You truly feel clean from inside-out.
My bad breath was not a poor hygiene issue, in fact, everytime I go to the dentist (prior to this routine) no plaque, no build up, class A denture, and his face when I said I was not a regular dentist visitor. It has been a couple of years since a cavity was found.
What was killing my good breath was sugar.
Keep Moving Forward,
