I have been using Gisou products for some time now, while simultaneously using drug store hair oils and salon grade dry shampoos. This in order for me to have an honest opinion when it comes to justify this purchase. I would like to express that I really like this brand because the smell is outstanding. But,
Why I decided to try this brand?
My scalp is problematic
I have been suffering with dandruff since around 16-17 years old. I always though it was because of gel use (I was a heavy user). But when I stopped using gel, dandruff and itching was even worse. Also, my scalp is a dry-greasy type and the smell was something I was ashamed about. My hair would be smelly even in the second day (I am also a very active person and any activity makes me sweat). Then I started my research and google said to do not wash my hair often because that would make dandruff even worst (resulting in a very dry scalp). I purchased head and shoulders, Neutrogena, some organic brands, Nizoral, you name it and dandruff was still there.
Before trying Gisou, I tried drugstore dry shampoo and it gave me headache and the white residue was accumulating into a crust. Not a pretty picture when you are already dealing with dandruff.
So, to stop washing my hair often to see if I would see any improvement I decided to try Gisou to cover odors and to extend my wash time. I was trying to "train my scalp" a thing that now I now is not real.
So in resume, this experiment was to see if by controlling smell, I could extend washing days in hopes of healing my scalp.
Is Gisou Worth the Money?
It depends because the smell is really good. It smells like nothing in the drug store and for me that is valuable. On the other hand, it did not helped my dandruff issue and I have accepted that I need to wash my hair often. Nizoral helps a lot, not completely but it controls dandruff very well. So, I have been sticking to this hair routine.
I bought the oil and the perfume. The oil lasted longer, but the perfume lasted like 2-3 months. Try this trick: at bed time, apply the perfume and wrap your hair in a silk cap. The smell with adhere so much better if left overnight.
Order of application:
1. Oil
2.Perfume
If you have the extra money to pamper yourself with something luxurious, give this a try. Remember to be strategic to make smell last long. I believe maybe my problematic scalp is the problem, so, maybe is just me. But you can find drugstore products that smell good (fruity smells). Never apply perfume directly to scalp, spray the comb or brush to distribute the fragrance efficiently.
Keep Moving Forward,
