Mane Recovery: My Opinion on Some of the Best Affordable Products

If you read my last publication about my hair care routine (click here) you know with what I was dealing with.  Those factors definitely had a negative impact on my hair.  I am happy that season is over and that I am shining my light, happy, healthy, moving, eating, and creating content again like I used to and better.

Since then, I have had enough time to finally give my opinion on some products I have been trying.  Have I noticed big changes?

Definitely yes.

In this post I will show some pics and discuss my current hair care routine.

From thin falling hair to strong and thick hair.  My hair looks healthier, fuller, alive, and softer.  Tangles? Well, all of my life I have been dealing with tangles when wearing loose hair styles.  Specially around the neck and back area.

But, I de-tangle easy.

Straight wavy hair looking so shiny and healthy.

The Foundation for a Healthy Hair

Food has everything to do with your hair health.

Having our hormones on check, good sleeping habits, body movement, drinking water, etc are the foundation for healthy hair.  Once all of this is on check we can start adding products to the formula.  Specially for us women, we have to increase the consumption of foods containing iron.  It would be ideal to start a few days before the start of our periods. Iron carries oxygen and it has to do everything with our hair, skin, etc.

Healthy & Strong Straightened Wavy Hair.

Please, do not fall for The Tricologists of Youtube that mostly push expensive products to the public instead of  promoting healthy lifestyles. We don't even know if they are wearing wigs or extensions.  If you notice any changes in your body, the right thing is to have a blood test first.

Be aware of your internet surroundings.

If the body is not right, expensive products are not going to do the work.  Many rush to buy expensive products because of desperation.  I did that and I learnt my lesson.  Supplements as well; tried a variety of expensive ones to end up with the same regular drugstore ones that work amazing.

Do not feel doomed just because expensive products like Kerastase, Nizoral , RedKen, Amika, even Loreal (they have gotten expensive and I honestly don't see a great difference) are out of your reach because of whatever reason.

Instead,  I repeat

get a blood test, see your levels and improve your health and you will see everything else getting better.  Knowledge is power, so educate yourself in nutrition, iron levels, vit a, etc. Then, stick to a hair routine that works for you.

But, I wanted express results and also, I was not giving my body enough time to heal and to process my feelings properly.  At one moment I was pushing myself to feel good and happy; big mistake. Feelings come and go like waves and if we don't allow ourselves to feel them, we are creating a time sensitive bomb.

Learnt my lesson and today I am writing about this because I know it will bless somebody else.

Products that Not Worked at All

I was debating while to write about this...

These products from Camel Glow are so expensive that I felt disappointment paid a visit.  I mean, I spent $30 on that small bottle of conditioner and to see that nothing changed felt wrong.  The spray was expensive as well, used it religiously, and no visible changes were noticed.  I started using this brand as soon as I started recovering because I wanted an "extra powerful boost" to start a second round of hair growth.

Clearly, I learnt my lesson once again and created my own mixture of oils.  This, with a healthy diet are making the difference.

My hair now.
So, I went to the drugstore and bought regular brands and started to see new growth all around my head.  I was expecting this to happen with Camel Glow products.  I can't justify spending $30 on a small conditioner bottle that just smells good.  Do I recommend Camel Glow? No, but if you would like to try something new go ahead and try.

Maybe it will work for you.  My scalp is different than yours.

In my opinion we are yes, entitled to see changes with just the middle of a bottle when it comes to expensive products.  I have used dogroo for example, and other hair growth shampoos and around the second-third week I see improvement. I hate when brands says you need to keep buying a product in order to see results.

That feels wrong and shady to me.

Drugstore Products I Recommend

Here is how I wash my hair:

I start with Garnier Fructis Anti Breakage, followed by Head & Shoulders, and finishing with Tio Nacho Thickening hair formula.   I found out that this routine helps me to reduce my scalp problem. My hair feels cleaner and FINALLY I see almost no signs of dandruff.  Maybe Nizoral did most of the job because I have been almost dandruff free for almost 2 years now.  Nizoral is so much expensive so I decided to go back to H&S and it is working great.

Fact: Focusing on scalp health boosted my hair thickness and growth.

Water temperature: warm

Conditioner

These products are made in Dominican Republic and I decided to bring them back into my routine because I grew up with similar products.  I make a mixture with this and

this

This along with hair oils, heat protector and allowing my hair to rest and to breath from heat tools are doing the job I needed to get my hair back.

Then, I switch with this:

Affordable, yet super effective. Love the gloss and softness it adds to my hair.

Gentle reminder: Do not believe the lie that just because you are aging, you need to let go of your beauty.  No, no: focus on your health and everything else will follow.  I know is better said that done, I was there, I had doubts and  of course, for some people with specific health conditions will be different but for most of us healthy people, discipline and paying attention to our bodies will help us to keep and to improve our hair, skin, and body in general.

Keep Moving Forward,
