Accomplishments I am Proud & Grateful For

This is exercise came to my mind a few years ago and I deleted it because I though I was bragging about my life.  After a very hard time in my life, I succumbed into thinking: " I have not done anything important with my life". And that is so further from truth because in fact, I have been accomplishing goals since I was in kinder garden.

Order of Events:

I learn English faster than other kids.  Even though my accent is strong, and that sometimes words won't come out correctly or in order, I perfectly understand (your accent matters, some accents are hard for me to understand) and write English as a second language.

I made a scientific fair project about drugs all by myself while other kids got theirs by the hand of their parents. I did not won the prize, which was a Disney Land trip, but I looked for the news in the newspaper, cut them, glued them, summarized them at the best of my knowledge ( I was in 3d grade) and my teacher Mr. Rodríguez told the entire class that he was proud of me because it showed I did it by myself. There are more details of why I had to do it by myself but I will omit them.

I was part of the cheerleading group in my small community elementary school and I had so much fun.

I was a part of the student guide association at school.

I was part of the Urban Explorers group at school and did so many fun and social driven activities. It fills my heart to remember those times. Cleaning beaches, going to camping, going to different local forests, we learnt historical facts of our town Mayaguez. One of my best memories is from Toro Negro. The view was the gift when we finally arrived there.

I was part of a karate group for a couple of years and won some tournaments. Learnt discipline, to keep good grades and to be responsible at school. The Chijan Gold Belt would tell us that to attend school and to be responsible with our duties, was part of our training. I was an orange belt.

I was the ceremony master of my 6th grade graduation.

I wrote an essay and won to go and meet the governor at that time Sila M Calderón. Sad thing is that she never appeared in the event and instead, sent a representative.  It was a forum to discuss the problems in our community.

I graduated Cum Laude (almost a Magna) in my university days. I also got into the Golden Key Honor Society.

I was also recognized as a honor student for several consecutive semesters.

I was part of the student council of my faculty as a Parliamentarian and as the Secretary.

This was the image I use for my "campaign" LOL.  Good memories.

When I went to the United States, for the first time, fresh out of college I was able to land job interviews of significant importance, but due to the limitations I had at the time, I was not able to accept practically anything that was worth my degree and my time.  I learnt the importance of thinking twice before leaving home because at first everybody will say "we will help" but then nobody will show up to give the extra mile.  I rejected the opportunity to start a masters degree that I really wanted and then I was late and ashamed to re join.

I was invited to several events in Puerto Rico as a lifestyle blogger.  Good times, great memories.

Now I can add that I am part of the greatest Navy in the world and this is by far one of the biggest and craziest thing I have ever done.  I am fully proud of myself and I want everybody to know that that girl turned into this woman.

I have always said that the song that best describes my life is "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. I kept on moving and kept climbing. I was keeping the faith even if I was feeling that my light was dimming low, I kept looking at it with determination.

Keep Moving Forward,
