Our hygiene is the first letter of
presentation others see of us. The way we care about our body speaks
volumes about how we see ourselves.
When I wake up first thing I do is cleaning my mouth.
First I use a gentle mouthwash like Closys, second I brush with Crest maximum strength anti-cavity, then I use Listerine Cool Mint and finally I rinse with Act.
Why?
Because I am super prone to cavities.
Also, if you are dealing with bad breath stop eating sugar or carry a travel size brush and toothpaste to get rid of residues. This is not the norm for everybody, but for some of us sugar creates bad breath. Please, do not feel embarrassed to talk about this. We are human, and it is normal to emit smells. The important thing is to take action and to care about our hygiene.
Note: I no longer wake up with that extreme morning bad breath. So this routine is miraculous and I recommend to everybody.
Morning Showers
I
will shower every morning no matter if I am in Puerto Rico, in the
United States or any cold place on earth. Our bodies sweat non stop
even when we are in AC. So we need fresh clean skin, clothes and hair.
Of course I don't wash my hair every single morning. The idea is to
leave home with these 3 in clean state.
My Shower Routine
Antibacterial Shower Gel or Bar
I do antibacterial every other day because I found information about antibacterial soap not being healthy for everyday use.
Exfoliating with a glove or with a sugary scrubs every 2-3 days to get rid of dead skin cells. This works, it makes a huge difference. You can tell between somebody that does it and somebody that don't. Exfoliating helps with the removal of oils and of other residues such as perfumes, lotions and other stuff you may had come in contact with during the day.
My go to shower gel is from the Milk & Honey by SUAVE. I find this smell and rich foamy formula to be unbeatable for the price.
Sometimes I will switch to vanilla smells from other brands. I also love shower oils to keep my skin soft and hydrated.
Fact: You don't need a big amount of shower gel like these girls show in YouTube. You are wasting the product and your money too. These influencers love to show extravagant lives, how they can afford this and that, and that they are cleaner than the word clean.
It is all for the views and for a video aesthetic; don't fall for it. If you follow a proper hygiene routine you will find that following these steps is enough for you to feel and to be clean.
Wash Hair Days:
I need to wash my hair every 3 days. I tried to train my hair, dry shampoo, hair perfume and I failed.
More details in here.
I switch a lot between products because sometimes I color my hair in a "blondie" shade and I need to use purple shampoo. Once I clean, I dry using my Revlon blow dryer brush which I found for $29.99 in Florida, USA. Best investment ever I kid yo not. By far the best and fastest blowout I have had in my life.
If necessary, I polish some hair strands with my flat iron.
Then I follow up with my hair mist from Giovanni "Shine of The Times" which I found for $7 dollars. I have a variety of hair mists but, this one is my favorite. The smell is very elegant, not soft but not to harsh therefore, it is the perfect balance. I replaced Gisou with these ones. Worth every penny and not that expensive.
I wrap a silk hair cap to allow my hair to rest. This helps the smell of the mist to lock in.
Face
I double wash my face with Cerave Face Cleanser and Hydrating cleanser. Scrub when I feel I need it.
Remember to clean your ears daily, back. Also be sure to clean very well your in between leg area.
Period Days
I carry an extra pair of underwear just in case and always extra pads when using them. Most times I use my Diva Cup. Baby wipes or other kind are a must. When at home, I take 3 showers or as often as I feel I need to shower.
For intimate care, I use Honest brand baby shower gel/shampoo. Hello Bello and Dove Baby are great options too.
PD: This blog is not sponsored by any brand. This is my way to go with products I love.
