I would like to start a series named "Hearing Alien Conversations at the..." (other people conversations) while I am shopping, at the park, at the mall...you get the idea. I swear that most of these conversations are worthy of mention. I have heard about almost every topic you can imagine from politics to religion, finances, crime, home decor, family drama, job drama like coworkers roasting other coworkers, etc.
Seems like people could care less about strangers hearing their conversations or they believe they are in a movie because only in movies you can't hear what the person next to you says for some strange reason.
I was on the makeup isle and there were 2 old ladies talking to the cashier about how proud and arrogant our generations have become for not wanting to accept any job less than what they studied. I have to confess that impulsive me wanted to join the conversation. As someone that has gone trough this, I have a lot of insight from both sides of the coin.
But, I just kept hearing and "minding my business" jaja.
What I bought?
A concealer from Milani brand.
I have never tried this brand before and I decided to give it a chance. The packaging looks elegant and effortless, so it caught my attention right away. Besides, black and gold is my favorite combo of colors. The formula is creamy and it mix very well with my skin color (I am a soft autumn) and the finish is impeccable. My skin looks smooth and it is high coverage.
The lady made valid points such as:
1. If you can't find a job related to your field of studies, accept what is available so you can sustain yourself.
I have always said the same thing. You need money, you need cash flow, you need to pay your bills so go and be willing to work for a fast food, cleaning services, customer service, etc. This should be your focus specially if you are still living with your parents for whatever reason (life happens). You can't act like an untouchable prince/princess when you are an adult. We must go with the flow and allow life to have it course and opportunities/new ideas/plans will come effortlessly.
2. Arrogance and plainly just waiting for the perfect opportunity will not help you on the long run. She emphasized that this generation felt way too important and had a sense of "greatness" never seen before. She also mentioned that at her age, she is still working from home or at the office part time. Her job is related to billing.
I found this harsh but interesting and true at the same time because I have been there. I know my talents, my learning capabilities, etc. So, when you are aware of who you are you don't want to settle for less. However, point #1 must clear the panorama and made me humble enough to understand that I am a talented human being, competing with other talented (some even more than me) human beings and that I must keep moving forward till I land the opportunity that is aligned with who I am. There is no lack of jobs, we must trust that the one that aligns with our skills, purpose and capabilities is on the way.
Read that one more time.
You can be missing a lot for staying at home just waiting for it to happen. You are missing expanding your network, meeting new friends, talking to strangers and hearing new perspectives, expanding your horizons, welcoming new paths, looking deeper into your surroundings, learning new skills or discovering you are good at something you would had never imagined.
Action is what keeps life flowing.
We Are Entering a New Era
We are shifting, the world is changing and the ones willing to adapt and try new things are the ones who are going to succeed. You cannot be afraid of changes, you cannot be attached to just one end. Being an engineer, doctor or lawyer would not guarantee anymore that you will be wealthy. A new kind of wealthy emerged and it is no longer your normal 9-5 being a financial specialist.
Old ways are not working anymore so, be open to let go the old and to receive the new things coming your way. Be grateful for the little things so you can be entrusted with bigger things.
Bottom line, I agree with the 3 wonderful ladies and I love hearing elders talking. Surprisingly they confirmed that the path I decided to walk now is the right one.
Keep Moving Forward,
